Blog Fav: Celebrating the Royal Wedding

by Andrea on April 29, 2011

Isn’t it kind of crazy that Kate Middleton will become a princess today?  It’s strange and lovely all at the same time.  I feel like I have memories of watching Princess Diana’s wedding with my mom, but it can’t be true since I wouldn’t have been quite two years old.  I can’t put my finger on why, but I am excited to see Kate’s dress, the pomp and circumstance, and all of the royal details.

I heard a great news story yesterday about how the Middletons went about designing their coat of arms.  Once Kate and William get married, their two coats of arms will merge into one coat of arms for their family.  Apparently, Kate’s has acorns on it, and William’s has lions and unicorns.  It did get me wondering what I would feature on my own family’s coat of arms.  Perhaps a topic for another post.

In celebration of all that is happening today in London, I wanted to feature a Royal Wedding themed post.  Thanks to Birthday Girl, I have some lovely ideas to share for my royal version of favorite blog post of the week.

Her cute post includes ideas for decoration, games, treats, and snuggle companions (sorry ladies, not a Prince).  Below, you’ll find some of the cute bunting she featured, a delicious looking Union Jack fruit cake (recipe is on her site), and finally, a fun take on the classic keep calm and carry on poster.

The thought that has been running through my head all week, is what will it feel like for Kate to wake up Saturday morning and be a princess?  I guess I’ll never know, but I sure hope it’s brilliant!
