Green Gem: Earth-friendly Hand Soap

by Andrea on April 27, 2011

The other night, I was washing my hands in my friend’s bathroom.  I toweled off and started to rejoin the party.  HOLD ON!  What is that smell?  Could it really be the hand soap? I start smelling my hands.  I go back to the bathroom and smell the soap.   That is amazing stuff.  Seriously, it was so amazing that I had to go back to check it out.  I rejoin the group and announce that I LOVE the hand soap, especially as the smell is still lingering and making me feel quite happy.  Other folks at the party agreed that they had the same reaction.

You know you’re at a good party when everyone is talking about the bathroom hand soap.  (It actually was a really fun party.)

Anyway, what was that amazing soap?  It was Mrs. Meyer’s Basil hand soap.  Just lovely.  It’s fresh, crisp, and just all around delicious.  I went home and looked it up, and learned that eucalyptus is part of the scent.  I adore eucalyptus. For me, it’s the most calming scent in the world.

This is one of my green gems, but I’m not trying to pass the color of the packaging off as  green.  I have very specific ideas of what is green and what is blue.  To me, the packaging is squarely in the blue camp.  However, it’s green in the earth-friendly way.  The soap is biodegradable, packaged in recycled containers, and free of all of the bad things.

I have since given this as a gift to other people. Hand soap.  I know.  Weird, right?  But it really is that amazing, and I know my friends would appreciate it.
