West Seattle Macaroons

by Emily on April 12, 2011

Not long ago Andrea invited our little family to join their little family for Happy Hour in West Seattle.  The idea was to check out a brewery that was kid friendly as well as beverage friendly.  The brews and nibbles were good at Elliott Bay Brewery but what we encountered across the street was maybe more exciting for us.

Bakery Nouveau is a local gem with many accolades.  Not only do they hang their plaque crowning the Coupe du Monde de Boulangerie (World Cup of Baking) but I walked by the Bakery last spring and the line on Saturday morning went several couples out the door!  Bakery Nouveau has beautiful breads and pastries but it was the Parisian Macaroons that made us ohhh and awww.  Enjoy these delicate beauties and if you’re in the neighborhood, you must try at least one.  Our little box of treats was devoured by the time we hit the end of West Seattle bridge!

I was thrilled to see that Jordan from Oh Happy Day also recently checked out the most famous Parisian Macaroon bakery, Laudree.   This magnificent bakery is quite a site.  On our last trip to Paris, we saw Laudree bags & boxes on nearly every arm that we passed.  We had no idea that macaroons could come in so many colors and flavors.

Bon Appetit!
