Green Gem: Eco Paint Tray

by Emily on July 13, 2011

We’ve done some painting lately in our home (here) and I found another green gem to share-the eco-friendly paint tray!  We have the traditional metal paint tray but maybe it’s my slow speed or laziness but sometimes it’s just easier to do away with the mess after your done.  I avoided buying the plastic liners but when I found this….I was smitten!

Fortunately, many of the paint accessory companies are now providing a biodegradable option to your painting supplies.  It’s crazy to see that some stores are still behind the times and haven’t started carrying these.  Thankfully, both our local Lowe’s and Home Depot carry several versions of this tray.  I stick this eco paint tray inside the metal one to add some stability and sturdiness to my work.  I’ll also re-use it probably longer than I should in some cases, then I feel a LOT better about tossing it when my project is done!

Now if only there was a way to make sure the paint brushes were eco-friendly too once they were beyond re-using.

Well, I’ve got 6 doors and baseboard trim on about 500 sf to still work on this summer.  Maybe this will kick me back into paint motion!  Do you have a paint tool that speeds the process?  I know my other fav is the shorty paint brushes!
