Blog Fav: Embracing the Holidays on Nov. 4

by Andrea on November 4, 2011

Oh yes, it is a tad early to embrace the holiday season, at least for me anyway.  This year though, I’m heading off to Portugal with Mo in early December, and it just hit me this week how I have a LOT to do before getting on a plane.

Some people though are very organized and are already gearing up. I was delighted, just delighted, to see several of the blogs I follow contribute to Emily Henderson’s holiday e-magazine.  I enjoy reading Emily’s blog as well, so basically, the heavens collided this week, and we have ourselves our latest blog fav.

I first spied the e-contributions over at Making it Lovely.  For the magazine, she crafted up some DIY chalkboard favors.  Pretty clever.

Then Creature Comforts shows us how you can dress up gifts with yummy velvet ribbon and peacock feathers.  I am loving the combination of turquoise and gold.  I think this is the direction I’m going for decking our halls this year.

Made by Girl kicks the fun factor up a few notches with five holiday party outfits.  This year, we have a wedding on New Year’s Eve and am wondering if a sequin dress wouldn’t just be too fun to pass up.

Finally, Centsational Girl takes lace from granny to modern.  She shows us how to use lace for gift wrapping and decoration around your home.

This is just the beginning.  There are clever holiday decoration ideas and many gift ideas.  (Many many gift ideas – this is after all, a gift guide.)  One decoration idea that I particularly love that works well during the holidays but could easily carry over year-round is this Joy to the World map.

For the full meal deal, check out the Holiday Gift Guide in all of its 238 page glory!

Happy weekending!
