Dreaming of Spring Planting

by Emily on March 8, 2012

With the latest round of snow in Seattle, just 2 days ago, I can honestly say that I’m now over it.  I’m ready for spring!  I think I was ready a couple of weeks ago but when waking to snow on Tuesday, it just confirmed that I was a little bit mad at mother nature for freezing my sprouting flowers.  One of the projects that I’d really like to try to accomplish this spring/summer is to build a couple of planter boxes.

Last year we revamped the side of our yard with new edging stones and new driveway gravel.  You can’t imagine how excited I was about the gravel part!  But, I’d like to get some clumping bamboo in planter boxes to run along the street side of the driveway in order to provide a bit of greenery and maybe a little road privacy.

Here are a couple of ideas that I’ve got my eyes on for their design and maybe simplicity in putting together.  Remember, I said that I’d like to build them, sans men folk taking over!

Okay….not so simple but gorgeous!  I’m in love…

A few of the designs that I’ve seen on Pinterest show designing these boxes using old pallets.  Interesting idea, although I’m not sure I’ve seen a pallet in good enough shape!  Maybe I’m wrong or else I’ll be looking into planing the wood first which is not what I had intended!

Well, here’s to dreaming of spring!  I can see this now…
