Newspaper Gift Bags

by Emily on March 14, 2012

Oh about 8 years ago now, my MIL and friends tackled a little craft project leading up to our wedding.  They made newspaper gift bags to put in the room of all the out-of-town guests attending our wedding!  It was such a special treat for us to have and I know that our guests thought it was a wonderful touch filled with water bottles and local ideas of things-to-do.

You can see from the picture above that it was just our local newspaper, sharing the spotlight with the golden anniversary couple and student briefs but it was special to us nonetheless!  They attached eyelets to the newspaper to secure the twine handles and prevent ripping.

Maybe an even more curious ad for the local hospital on the side of the bag but hey, that’s what you get with a small town newspaper!  At least we didn’t share with the obits.

I found a really great tutorial with really helpful pictures for making these bags on How About Orange.  She’s got all the measurements to make a 5″ tall, 4.5″ wide & 3″ deep bag.  Check it out!  A great idea for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or just a themed party gift!
