Porcelain Letter Necklace

by Andrea on March 27, 2012

The other day I found myself with 30 minutes to kill, all by myself, in the heart of Ballard. What a gift!  I immediately marched over to Cafe Fiore for a drink and wandered up Ballard Ave, visiting my favorite shops along the way.

One favorite that I’ve mentioned on OLG  before is Lucca.  I heart Lucca.  I mean, it makes me giddy just stepping inside.  It smells heavenly, and their carefully curated collection of goodies are always so beautifully arranged.  Plus, while there are many expensive things that I can’t buy, there are always unexpected little treats for my budget.

During this visit, I spied $1.50 porcelain letters.  Yup, $1.50 each.  I picked up two and spent a whopping $3. I thought these lovely little beauties would make for a cute necklace.  Once home, I searched through my chains and found this simple silver chain.  Perfecto!

I slipped them on, and my $3 and 1 minute necklace was complete! How easy is that?

Since little Mo was born, I always wanted a little necklace with his name.  I just couldn’t decide on what I wanted.  I love how this looks, AND I love how the porcelain letters tinkle against each other as I move.  It’s a fun little reminder of my little man at different times during the day.

Well, if you don’t live in Ballard or even near Seattle for that matter, don’t you fret.  I tracked down these same letters online here, and they will ship internationally. They are made by East of India and designed in Britain.  But these aren’t your only options.  Check out this Etsy designer.  So many different porcelain letters to choose from!  It doesn’t look like these comes with the metal hoops, but perhaps you could just affix one on.
