Be Light as a Feather

This past year, the hubby and I became the proud owners of a local running and walking store.  It’s Brian’s full time job, and I pitch in weekly to encourage more people to check us out.  WELL – I’m not sure why I didn’t think about this earlier – BUT last month I realized that the store’s window display was my new empty canvas. Oh yes, a whole new space to get my craft on.  Anthropologie, can you hear me?

I am not sure if this is too ambitious, but I’m planning/hoping to design a new display every month.  Today, I’m excited to share my first window display which was designed around the theme of ‘Be Light as a Feather.’  Remember my feathers?  This was the plan all along!  Aren’t they gorgeous all strung up together?

I also suspended clouds from the ceiling to display some of the lightweight shoes and created a bed of clouds at the base of the windows. The clouds were created by covering empty shoe boxes with white computer paper.  I then hot glued batting all over it to create a fluffy uneven appearance.  I almost love these clouds as much as the feather strand.  I think they would be fun to hang in Mo’s future bedroom.

Finally, the lettering on the window is gorgeous and too much!  I can say this, because I had nothing to do with it.  Emily, one of our fabulous employees, freehanded it in reverse from the inside.  Ahhhh…. I’m so jealous.

So what do you think of my first attempt?  Next month I’m planning on featuring pretty paper butterflies.  More to come!
