Blog Fav: Dear Photograph

by Emily on April 27, 2012

This is why I love to get comments from blogland…Alex from North of Seven commented on my veggie garden beds and I popped on over to her site and found it lovely to read!  One of my favorite projects is the DIY Solar Mason Jars.  I’m so gonna do that…genius!

But one this she commented on this week was about a blog called Dear Photograph.  Maybe I’m living under a rock but I hadn’t heard about this yet and it was so much fun to look at and read.  Some stories make me teary eyed, some make me laugh and some just make me smile.  And it’s blowing up…books, huge press and it only started last May!  Shows that a great idea can really go big quickly, as in Time Magazine naming it one of the top 10 best websites big!

Dear Photograph,

Can we please go back to the days when we were all friends? I miss us…

It all started with a family sitting around a dinner table when Mom brings out an old photo album.  Here’s how The Guardian describes it:

Among the hundreds of shots was one of Jones’s younger brother at his third birthday party. “He was sitting in front of his Winnie-the-Pooh birthday cake,” Jones recalls. “It was weird – because my brother was there, in the exact spot he was sitting in in the photograph.”Jones grabbed his camera and took a shot of the old photograph lined up to match its original location. He posted it and six others on a blog. Within days, the blog, which he later named Dear Photograph, had gone viral.

What a great idea and it really makes you wonder if I too can line up an old photo in its current setting.  Sounds like a fun project to me!

Thanks Alex for posting and Dear Photograph for the lovely idea!

Happy Weekend…
