Jazz Up Your Apple a Day Routine

by Andrea on April 24, 2012

Perhaps it’s because I live in Washington, and we grow a lot of apples east of the mountains, but over the past year, I’ve noticed that there are new apple varietals every time I go to the grocery store.  Is this the case where you live?  We are so beyond the red delicious and granny smith apples of the world.

The latest such discovery was the Jazz Apple.

These lovelies are grown in Washington, New Zealand, France and Chile and are the marriage of Royal Gala and Braeburn apples.  And because it’s 2012, these apples have their own website. I found them to be satisfyingly crispy, which I always love, and juicy.  They are also fairly sweet as far as apples go.

Overall, Jazz apples get two thumbs up, and I recommend them.  With this fruit under my belt, I just have 388 to go. No problem.
