Celebrate Bastille in Seattle!

by Emily on July 12, 2012

Bonjour!  Bastille Day is upon us this weekend and Seattle is revving up for some tres good times in Madison Valley!  This is the Premier Bastille Day festival for Seattle and the line up of food, arts, children’s activities and music look wonderful!  What the heck is Bastille Day you ask?  It’s the day of celebration, in France, every July 14th where the people of France stormed the Bastille prison and reclaimed freedom for their country from the forces of Louis XVI.  There will be parties, parades and lots of good celebration all across the country and in many places around the world, like our very own Seattle!

What’s on the agenda?  Well first of all you can check out their Facebook Fan page to see all the highlights here but these were a few that caught my attention:

-Ukulele rock band “The Castaways” will be performing from 3-5pm in honor of the Bastille Bash.

-Thrive Art School is doing a children’s art workshop for those pre-registered students who would like to show their inner Monet!

-The Essential Bakery will be hosting a French menu for the day! Oh it looks yummy……

-French jugglers & troubadours, oh my!

-And let’s not forget the over 30 food booths from Seattle’s best restaurants all selling small plates from $2-$6.

-To cap it off, we cannot talk France without embracing the vin.  Many of the retail shops along Madison will be offering the wine passport where you can sip and stroll and shop.  Can’t get better than that for a $10 donation!

-All proceeds from the events will benefit Children’s Response Center!

Don’t forget your beret!
