Little Free Libraries

This little idea is literary genius ~ Free little book exchanges that can be set up anywhere and everywhere.

Started in Wisconsin, the nonprofit called Little Free Library has a goal of inspiring the creation of over 2,510 libraries around the world.  That my friends, would be more than Andrew Carnegie.  Their mission is to promote literacy and the love of reading.  How much better can it get?

Folks around the world have been inspired to set these up outside their homes and in their neighborhoods.  Little Free Libraries can be found from Australia to Ghana to India to Germany and America. Check out their map with updated locations.

For crafty folks, the Little Free Library nonprofit has posted free instructions on how to build your own.  If you would like a little extra help, they also sell kits starting at $250. This last photo is for Emily; I can see her getting behind putting one of these in her lovely front yard!

I am absolutely tickled by this idea! It’s a beautiful way to build community right outside your front door!
